EAT: BLUE CRAB MONDAYS AT LOUI LOUI
Harlem Bespoke: We noticed that a crowd had been stopping by early in the evening at Loui Loui on Broadway just two blocks south of 125th Street and decided to check out what the daily offerings were about. It turned out each day of the week has a specialty du jour that is priced just right and Monday was apparently blue crab night.
This is one of those spots that has the cajun boil in the plastic bag served with a tin bucket for the shells. Guests get gloves handed over for things do get a bit messy but are definitely worth it. The garlicky seasoning really was a pleasant surprise for the evening and one serving of crab was enough to share between two moderately hungry people. For those slightly more of an appetite, the seasonal fried soft-shell crab would be another recommendation for that night at $16 a serving and were meatier than any we have had in recent years. Happy Hour runs during the weekday with $1 oyster specials and $4 glasses of wine which makes for good business plan because things have definitely picked up since the word got out.
