SHOP: H MART DEBUTS ON 110TH STREET
Harlem Bespoke: The largest Asian supermarket chain in Manhattan has now debuted on 110th Street and Broadway in Morningside Heights. We were the first to announce the H Mart would arrive in Morningside Heights back in September and noticed that the soft opening had happened early on in the week. Everything was about 95 percent stocked but the Far East specialty emporium had more than enough in house to bring in the crowds.
The main stock includes mostly Korean and Japanese goods but other hard to find Asian imports are included in the mix. What is especially impressive is the wide range of produce which are seldom found anywhere in the city. There is also a great fish counter that has whole sea urchin as part of the offerings. Sushi grade fish, bulgogi quality meats, a wall of gochujang and prepared hot foods are some of the other standouts at this impressive store which is probably bigger than the one in K-Town. Some western basics are also available but the curious gourmet will definitely want to check out the more unique groceries. More on H Mart in our past post: LINK
