Harlem Bespoke: Washington Heights does not have as many townhouses as Harlem so seeing a couple of empty ones on the same block really piqued our curiosity. Number 541 West 159th Street appears to have hardly any information listed on the DOB website and apparently no permits are on record to fix up the property. Just three doors down towards Broadway, Number 547 West 159th Street also has boarded up windows but looks to be slightly in better condition. Permits had been approved back in 2015 to convert the SRO building into a 2-family layout but work appears to have not really progressed for some reason. Hopefully these historic home will get fixed up soon but they will probably have to be sold to an experience developer to have anything really happen.
