REMEMBER: A HARLEM STREET VIEW CIRCA 1946

Harlem Bespoke:  Who can guess the vantage point of this Harlem street view taken circa 1946?  Some of the major landmarks such as the Harlem Opera House have been demolished but much of the original historic architecture still remains intact today.   Check back later in the day for the answer along with a full list of notable buildings on the commercial boulevard.  Archival photo courtesy of NYPL Digital Collection
The lower photo looking west on 7th Avenue at the corner of 125th Street was just taken earlier this week and shows that there still is a lot of traffic on Harlem's main road. At the far left, the Hotel Theresa can be seen in the foreground and The Apollo marquee to right also stands out.  Blumstein's still stands today but the signage has been taken down a long time ago on the south side.  Another notable point is that the bland white building at the right is what replaced the Harlem Opera House: LINK
