Harlem Bespoke: It looks like the former Tuck-It-Away storage building at the corner of 132nd Street and Broadway is up for demolition as part of the Columbia University expansion in Manhattanville. We walked by the intersection in West Harlem this past weekend and notice that scaffolding was up around the building that was also previously an automobile showroom back in its earlier history. Some might remember that the owner of the storage business fought through the court system to keep the business at the current location but Eminent Domain laws prevailed and the property had to be sold to the university.
A couple of buildings designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano are already fully constructed towards 125th Street and the next couple of years will see more of the glassy new constructions make its way further north. For more on the Manhttanville campus, check out our past post: LINK
