INTRODUCING: A RETRO DINER ON SUGAR HILL

Harlem Bespoke:  Neighbors on Sugar Hill at the corner 147th Street on St. Nicholas Avenue might have noticed that there is a new retro diner called Twenty Two West that had suddenly opened on the boulevard.  This is actually the film set for the Godfather of Harlem which is a series that stars Forest Whitaker as the gangster Bumpy Johnson who eventually finds an unlikely allegiance with Malcom X.  The film takes place during the 1960s so the studios will recreating a certain vintage aesthetic to various uptown locations and one might even noticed one of those old phone booths at the far left.  Interestingly enough, the corner bodega of which the faux facade was built around is still functioning and regulars having been shopping at the establishment as usual.   More on Godfather of Harlem can be found in our past post: LINK
