CLOSING: BIER INTERNATIONAL ON FDB

Harlem Bespoke: We have been receiving numerous reports that Bier International on FDB by 113th Street has shuttered as of this past weekend.  Harlem first modern day draft house debut in the summer of 2010 and was the predecessor to Harlem Tavern, Hop House, Harlem Ale House, Mess Hall, Bierstrasse, Harlem Hops, Drafthouse, Hogshead Tavern, East Harlem Bottling Co. and Harlem Public.

Owners Ousmane Keita and Chris Pollock added to the multi-cultural character of the neighborhood with a wide selection of draft and bottled beers from countries such as Germany, France, Belgium, Czech Republic, Austria, Kenya, Japan in addition to domestic or local craft beers. Bier International was also one of the first to serve up a diverse menu of global beer-friendly bites which included the requisite giant pretzel along with various wurst.  Apparently the lease is up and the time just finally came about to shutter the businesses according to the sign.  H+B originally listed the top 10 most influential new businesses in the neighborhood and Bier International was notably Number 5 on the list: LINK
