INTRODUCING: SAKURA PARK BLOSSOMS 2019

Harlem Bespoke:  Sakura Park by Riverside Drive and 122nd Street is a small hilltop green space just on the south edge of the West Harlem border that has a lot of history represented by the cherry orchard planted within. Most might be familiar with the hundreds of cherry trees planted in Washington D.C. that were donated by the country of Japan over a century ago but a lesser known fact is that part of the gift also made its way uptown.  Once the new arrivals had been planted, Claremont park then changed name to Sakura Park and has about a dozen trees flourishing around the grounds today.  Blossoms are just starting to open up when we dropped by yesterday and should be in full bloom within the next week.  More on Sakura Park can be found in our past post: LINK
