SEE: ALEX KATZ AT GAVIN BROWN GALLERY 2019
Harlem Bespoke: Alex Katz has a show of new work at the Gavin Brown exhibition space in Manhattanville and were able to drop by the industrial West Harlem location this past weekend. The gallery debuted in Harlem a few years ago and set up shop on West 127th Street by Amsterdam Avenue which now shows some of the most renowned works in the world at the uptown location.
Those familiar with modern art will know that Alex Katz has various pieces represented at MOMA, the Met, the Whitney and also the Smithsonian so seeing this caliber of work in the neighborhood is quite extraordinary. Figurative art has been the signature style for Mr. Katz but the large scale canvases that are on the upper levels of the gallery feature less structured subject matter which appear to be an abstraction of nature and light. The above photos are only a small portion of what is on view so do not miss out on this show that will be around until end of August: LINK
