DWELL: DESIGN PREVIEW AT THE VIDRO

Harlem Bespoke:  We have been following the construction of The Vidro at 313 West 121st Street since 2017 and had the opportunity to check out the new model apartment at the boutique condominium with decidedly sharp architectural elements out front.  There used to be an empty lot on the site and so the modern construction is a welcome addition to an unused space in the neighborhood.  We especially like that the elevator opens directly into each unit which all have fantastic angular windows that provide a dramatic Mondrian view of the surrounding prewar architecture.

Attention to details such as a separate bath and shower or the floating toilet which attaches only to the wall expands the interior space as well as updating the look of a designer bathroom.  Wood finishes are on the lighter side which appears to be the trend these days and also helps open up the overall ambiance of the living areas.  The requisite stainless steel kitchen equipment is also built-in and surrounded by elegant bois pattern cabinetry which adds a nice textural element to the otherwise stylishly minimalist interior.  Added soft finishes for staging are all contemporary mid-century modern inspired pieces that really compliment the architect's vision.

The Vidro is probably one of the more specialized smaller new condo buildings that has arrived in the neighborhood in recent years which is refreshing since working with a limited scale can be a creative challenge.  This location is also by the FDB commercial corridor and the express trains so the units should be attractive to buyers interested in developments close to Morningside Park.  For more information, check out The Vidro website or contact the main broker directly at the Krantz and Krantz Halstead team:  Jgaldos@halstead.com
