BESPOKE: SALAD AND SPRING ROLLS AT THE EXPAT
Harlem Bespoke: One of the things about Vietnamese food that is so refreshing is all of the greens that come with the plates of crispy spring rolls but many do not know what they are there for. Most folks are familiar with the Chinese style variation and just dip it in the sauce but there this more to the picture for the delicious Indochine appetizer that can be found uptown at The Expat.
Those looking for something a little more refreshing for the summer should tear a piece of the lettuce off and wrap it around one of the individual spring roll before dipping everything into the savory and spice sauce. This is all finger food so forget about the chopsticks and use the lettuce to grab onto the house specialty if so inclined. Thai Larb is served up in a similar fashion but the crispy warm crunch of the Vietnamese spring roll along with the cool lettuce has a more dynamic contrast that is quite unique in Asian cuisine.
