INTRODUCING: FIRST LOOK AT NBHD COFFEE SHOP
Harlem Bespoke: Construction at the former bodega at the corner of 140th Street on 8th Avenue picked up over the summer and signage was out front by September. Paper from the windows went down earlier in October and the NBHD coffee shop opened quite quickly by Strivers Row in the past couple of weeks.
We dropped by the very spacious java joint this past weekend and the place was already very busy with a morning rush hour. There appears to be around 40 seats or so including the bar and communal table up front but a cozy living room area can also be found in the back corner. Coffee shops do very well in Harlem and it is a surprise that they never really were a thing until recently. An old saying was that there was either a church or bar on every other corner in Harlem and that adage would now be updated to mention coffee shops as the beverage spot of choice these days. More on NBHD can be found in our past post: LINK

I agree Ulysses! That vegan chicken sandwich is excellent! I think that’s gonna be my new, favorite comfort food. 😄
