CONSTRUCTION: SIDEWALK COLLAPSE AT WEST 137TH
Harlem Bespoke: We walked by the corner of 137th Street on 12th Avenue recently to check up on what is going on with the line of commercial spaces in the area and things do not look so great. The plywood around the entire block is starting to degrade and a peek inside reveals that the sidewalk had collapsed in front of the building. All of the gut renovation of the interiors do not appear to have progressed much since our last visit which leaves a lot of unanswered questions. A developer had purchased the property back in 2017 and mentioned that the fully renovated station building would eventually house multiple restaurants and become a destination spot but things look to be moving along rather slowly. More details in our past post: LINK

Just to clarify - the owner wants to develop a 14+ story building there. Presented it to the community board last winter. Their digging collapsed the street and the developers have left it a wasteland.
