BESPOKE DIARIES: IS THE PANDEMIC ENDING?

Harlem Bespoke:  What is the current state of the pandemic?  We wallked by the statue of Frederick Douglass at 110th Street today and the mask on the iconic statue made us wonder.  The news has been so overwhelming this week but those looking for some hope might see it in the statistics reported by the Mayors office recently.  There were no COVID-19 deaths reported on Wednesday last week which was a number not achieved in months.  Other points to note is that the single-day new case was at 48 which is well under 200 threshold number to reopen the city fully.  Citywide infections were at 3 percent which was also under the 15 percent standard for recovery.  First phase reopening of the city starts tomorrow and non-essential retail will be opening doors in the next few days.  Read more about the declining coronavirus stats in the Daily News: LINK
