Harlem Bespoke: The world largest passive housing building called Sendero Verde broke ground last year and has been slowly rising in El Barrio. We took the above photo at 111th and Park Avenue this past weekend and saw that the formerly empty lot had parts of the building rising at certain corners. When finished in 2022, the 37-story, eco-conscious new construction will house 700 units of affordable housing with 360 listed for low income residents. Our only point of concern is that the city has been promoting more green initiatives but these larger developments are very car-centric with underground parking lots built in. Maybe going forward a caveat of electric car use should be included for those who want to reside in the city subsidized developments. More on Sedero Verde can be found in our past post:
