ARCHITECTURE: 1674 LEXINGTON AVENUE
Harlem Bespoke: One of the few local designated official landmarks in East Harlem can be found at the school building on 1674 Lexington Avenue by East 105th Street. The city-owned address was completed back in the late 1800s, and recently went through a round of restoration. Now called the Julia De Burgos Cultural Arts Center since 1989, the former PS 72 also includes the Taller Boricua gallery along with theater space inside. Everything has been pretty quiet as of late because of the pandemic but hopefully the space will be open to the public by end of year. Check out an archival photo of the historic school in our past post: LINK
