Harlem Bespoke: There was a lot of cheer in the streets this weekend over the election results and we walked into a more classic gathering at the Invisible Man Monument at Riverside Drive on Sunday where there was live jazz playing during the afternoon hours. The bronze statue unveiled in 2003 is a tribute to Ralph Waldo Ellison's famous novel and the author lived near this location by 150th Street in one of the grand prewar buildings.
Those familiar with the historic residential architecture in the area know that they create sort a wall along the boulevard and this in turn makes for some great acoustics since the sound bounces out and is amplified. Some of the more festive crowds this weekend were packed with lots of revelers but we tend to enjoy the more lower-key events as a form of celebration.
