Harlem Bespoke: The landmark brownstones facing City College on West 140th Street by Amsterdam Avenue have mostly been restored over the past years except for one building. A sidewalk shed is currently up at 459 West 140th Street and we were wondering what the abandoned single-family building was all about. Apparently an
environmental justice non-profit has owned the townhouse for over a decade now and has been trying to convert everything into a commercial facility for the organization. The environment education center is an odd choice for the residential block but any restoration to the historic architecture will surely be better than the alternative.
