Harlem Bespoke: We noticed that the church at the corner of 145th and Convent Avenue has scaffolding up out front recently but does that mean a demolition might happen in the near future? Fortunately Mt. Zion Lutheran Church is within the Hamilton Heights historic district so everything is protected by landmark laws. A quick search on the DOB online site reveals that some major interior renovations have been approved in the past few months and the exterior will definitely be intact after the fact. West Harlem has done a fantastic job in protecting historic architecture this way but some notable buildings further east have not been so lucky:
