Harlem Bespoke: It appears that the former public school building PS 157 that was converted into affordable rentals several decades ago now needs a lot of repair work. A sidewalk shed had gone up about a year ago (lower photo) but now things just keep getting more complicated. We walked by the corner of 127th and St. Nicholas Avenue recently and noticed that the entire building is now covered with scaffolding. Facade restoration and general building maintenance is a big deal and those wondering why many in the neighborhood did not choose home ownership in 70s and 80s when property values were low can just look at the above photos for answer.
