New York Post just announced the news that the site for the new 17-story Urban League tower will have the much coveted affordable supermarket as an anchor tenant along with a Target store. The last photo above shows the demolition site where the old garage building is currently being torn down to make way for the new construction which is quite interestingly across the street from Whole Foods located just a couple of doors east at the corner of Lenox.
For some reason Trader Joe's likes to stalk Whole Foods when it comes to Manhattan locations so this was pretty much inevitable. Affordable housing will also be a part of the new construction so hopefully the city can expeditiously make things happen. Check out our past post for a rendering of this new building that will also have a civil rights museum when all finishes up in 2023 if everything goes according to plan: LINK
