REMEMBER: EDGECOMBE PURE FOOD MARKET
Harlem Bespoke: Before Harlem had a Whole Foods or even bodegas, there were small corner grocery stores like Edgecombe Pure Food Market to anchor each neighborhood block. But where were these striking townhouses located? The brownstones are terrifically designed and look like they would be in one of West Harlem's historic districts but it appears everything was torn down before any landmark status came about. We will have an updated photo later on in the week to show what actually happened to the site. This was the most recent photo we have of the corner which is on Edgcombe at the intersection of 145th Street. A taller red brick apartment complex has soon been constructed on the site and is pretty nondescript for the most part.
