SEE: FAKE POSTER CAUSES A STIR AT PONTY BISTRO

Harlem Bespoke:
We noticed on our Facebook and Twitter accounts that folks were sharing a poster for a new restaurant at the corner of 139th and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard but this is apparently all fake.  The badly photoshopped image announces the arrival of Chalmette which would be a French fusion bistro that has soul food with stock photo models from the 90s laughing as if they were on the set of Friends.   You can see the corner building of Strivers Row in the reflection and this could only be Ponty Bistro based on the location and the wood trim that was visible on the higher resolution images.

Ponty Bistro opened back in 2014, is black owned and just happened to be closed this week for movie or television production.  The restaurant confirmed as much on our Cinema Bespoke instagram account and someone also mentioned that it could possibly be a comedy.  Not showing diversity in any imaging of the neighborhood is definitely a faux pas that was made like over a decade ago so maybe this will be a social commentary of sorts whether it be serious or not.  Someone mentioned that film permits for the new Whoopi Goldberg Harlem comedy series had been posted in the neighborhood so this would absolutely make sense: LINK

  1. We know Harlem inside and out so could place the location when we heard it was by Strivers Row. The architectural details around the doorway confirmed it was Ponty Bistro.
