ARCHITECTURE: MORE MODERN AT 1713 MADISON

Harlem Bespoke: We took a few photos back in 2019 when 1713 Madison Avenue started up construction but have not since published the final architectural results. Walking by Madison Avenue by East 113th Street this past weekend revealed the refresing modern designs in the middle of rather bland mid-century housing developments.  East Harlem leaders still need to be challenged to actually create compelling modern architecture that does not isolate communities so seeing something on the street level with inviting windows is a nice change.

The Cooke School and Institution came up with this creative headquarters building which will serve special needs children and also teach educators in the field on improving the quality of diverse education. A lot of East Harlem's original architecture was replaced blocks of buildings that are the most uninspired in the city so more efforts of the kind used to build this new educational address should be implemented going forward.  Check out our past post for renderings and photos of the site a couple of year back: LINK
