BESPOKE DIARIES: COLUMBIA CAMPUS SPRING 2021

Harlem Bespoke:  We did a restaurant review in Morningside Heights last week and always make a point to walk through the beautiful Columbia University campus on 116th Street and Broadway.   McKim Mead and White was the star architecture firm of the era that built a breathtaking educational acropolis at a former psychiatric asylum estate within greater Harlem which is still very timeless today.  Other than that, Morningside Heights is rather an oddball neighborhood as far as uptown goes.  Columbia University owns most of the property around the main campus so the demographic is either college age students or that of much older professors.  There are some families and non-student housing towards riverside drive but on any giving day the entire neighborhood is basically a university experience.
