SHOP: MAGICAL MUSHROOMS AT MORNINGSIDE PARK
Harlem Bespoke: The Mornings Park Farmers Market on Saturdays at 110th Street has become wildly popular in the past year and we heard about an regional mushroom vendor that was creating a lot of buzz. Hodgins Harvest is one of the dozens of vendors selling this weekend and the Rockland County grower just has some of the best fungi to be found in the city.
We never heard of chestnut mushrooms but their unusual color and texture had us signed up immediately for a purchase last weekend. They actually have fantastic mild nutty flavor when cooked up in butter with a dash white wine and salt but also retain their size. A lot of mushrooms shrink to minute proportions when applied to heat and these stay nice and beefy. The black popular apparently taste like smoked bacon so will be next our list to purchase this weekend. More on the farmers market can be found in our past post: LINK
