Harlem Bespoke: There is a massive parking lot that breaks up the line of brownstones on West 130th Street just east of Adam Clayton Powell and we always wondered what the missing architecture looked like. All of the surviving townhouses are pretty much matching in aesthetic so we were surprised to discover that the 7 missing buildings look totally different than those currently still standing. An archival photo from the 1940s shows that a change in design happened at this point on the block but the ghost buildings do also match one another also. It is unclear how this many homes could be demolished completely from the neighborhood but hopefully one day this parcel will be used for much need housing once again.
