ARCHITECTURE: REBUILDING A BROWNSTONE BLOCK
Harlem Bespoke: A lot of developers are tempted to build bland skinny condo towers on an empty brownstone lot but some have constructed new townhouses with a historic nod to the past which have had great success. Number 535 Manhattan Avenue just sold for over $4 million this year and the new construction by West 122nd Street seamlessly blends in with the neighborhood. The top photo shows an entire block of brownstones on West 120th Street by Frederick Douglass that never existed before 2003 and has sold well as one of the more notable low-rise condominium developments to be found uptown. Then there is the newest addition at 2086 Fifth Avenue by West 128th Street which just had a dramatic facade reveal and should do well when the new construction debuts on the market in the coming months: LINK
