ART: A LITTLE MORE COPPER AT RECLINING LIBERTY

Harlem Bespoke:  The reclining Statue of Liberty created quite a buzz in Morningside Park by West 120th Street when the public piece of art arrived during the springtime but will the sculpture last until next year?  We walked by the massive masterpiece in the past week and noticed that more of the copper is showing through these days.   Everyone in the city has been lining up to rub, touch and even have their children sit on the lady for a photo so the patina might not hold up eventually.  Rain probably naturally erodes the finish and thus the weather is a factor too.  Most of the grass around the work of art has also been decimated because of the foot traffic so a little care might be needed for this installation in the coming months.  Check out our past post to see more photos taken earlier when there was a little more green around Ms. Liberty: LINK
