Harlem Bespoke: We heard a lot about Pabade Bakery on East 110th Street between Lexington and Park Avenue but have only started stopping by the tiny storefront over the summer. The interior is mostly a coffee counter to order takeaway and the modest display case is full of freshly baked goods but you have to look to see what treasures might be inside.
Our moment of revelation came about this week when a few sugar sprinkled confections were at the front of the aforementioned glass counter display and we tried out the dulce de leche filled treats. These were actually the size of a large muffin with a hint of filling peeping out of the top and had been freshly baked by the owner. The secret here is that there is a lot more of the sweet goodness inside and almost half of the pastry is full of dulce de leche which makes it one of the best to be found uptown in our opinion. There was also a fruit preserve filling one also that we will try out next time since this will now be our main coffee spot when when walk around East Harlem.
