REMEMBER: RAISE YOUR VOICE EXHIBIT AT MCNY

Raise Your Voice installation at Museum of the City of New York, 104th Street and Fifth Avenue. Raise Your Voice is an immersive installation by Brooklyn-based artist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya.The project mixes selections from the public art campaign “We Are More,” which depicted the resiliency of New York’s Asian American and Pacific Islander community, with original artwork of activists and allies Yuri Kochiyama and Malcolm X.

THE 46TH ANNUAL THREE KINGS DAY PARADE

Friday, January 6th, 11:00AM - 12:00PM, The 45th Annual Three Kings Day celebration goes virtual in East Harlem.  The 45th Annual Three Kings Day Parade sponsored by El Museo Del Barrio will be virtual in January.  Learn more about the Three Kings Day celebration through a fun-filled morning of storytelling, a musical performances, and special guests.  More details on how to RSVP for the  royal local event can be found on the official El Museo del Barrio site: LINK

El Día de los Reyes is the Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus in Latin countries and tradition has it that those children who leave their polished shoes under their beds (in preparation for the arrival of the kings of Europe, Arabia and Africa) will receive gifts the next day.  In Puerto Rico, the custom manifest itself as leaving hay in a box under the bed to feed the camels.  The Three Kings Day Parade has been a tradition in El Barrio since 1976 and continues as a virtual event for the first time in 2021.

LAST CHANCE: BORDERLESS AT TALLER BORICUA

Harlem Bespoke: Uptown's arts organization are cautiously getting back to normal and now one East Harlem cultural institution has opened doors once more.  The Taller Boricua gallery in El Barrio is located within a landmark school building and currently has an exhibit on the history of the famous institution.  The latest exhibition ends this weekend on January 6th.

KOREAN CHRYSANTHEMUMS AT CONSERVATORY GARDEN

Harlem Bespoke:  We alway check out the spring flowers at the Conservatory Garden at Central Park's East 105th Street entrance but did not know that the falls season had some extraordinary late bloomers.  Thousands of Korean chrysanthemums flowers are at their height of perfection right now at the north garden and are quite a spectacle within the entire circumference of the circular layout.  The sea of flowers probably will not be around for too long so make sure to stop by this week before the beautiful seasonal moment passes.  More on the Conservatory Garden can be found in our past post: LINK
