SEE: TRAVELING WHILE BLACK AT THE SCHOMBURG

Harlem Bespoke:  The Schomburg on Lenox Avenue at the corner of 135th Street is really the predecessor to the National Museum of African American History and Culture but does not get as much exposure these days.  This branch of the New York Public Library always has great exhibits with artifacts or images that can not be found online anywhere and is definitely worth the visit.

We recently viewed the Traveling While Black exhibition which reminded us of how black Americans discovered exploring the country or the world but finding safe spaces was also an issue until after the mid century.  Visual include historic photographs,  magazines, posters and fashions of previous decades.  The above photos are just a glimpse of the fantastically curated presentation.  The Schomburg is open Monday through Saturday, 10:30 AM until 5:30 PM. No reservation is needed:  LINK
