WHERE WAS SUGAR RAY'S LOCATED IN HARLEM?

Harlem Bespoke: Where is the forgotten Harlem block in this famous photo from the early 1950s? First of all, this was legendary boxer Sugar Ray Robinson in front of his flashy pink car and promoting his namesake businesses in the neighborhood.

The location is actually on 124th Street and 7th Avenue just south of Hotel Theresa.   As can be seen from the above recent photo, the original historic buildings were demolished during the 70s and a rather bland residential apartments currently stand at the famous site.  There was a time when saving Harlem's architectural history was not very important to the power that be and a block this big could have definitely be restored if the right mind set was involved.
