CROWDS AT THE CHARLES PAN-FRIED CHICKEN OPENING

Harlem Bespoke: It was a rainy opening day for the Charles Pan-Fried Chicken at the 72nd Street location just west of Broadway on the south side, but the crowds kept coming in over lunch time. The one major thing to note before heading down to the new takeout spot is that the computer systems were down for credit cards so make sure to bring some cash.  Word of mouth must have been pretty fierce for this sort of turnout but when will the Harlem location open?

We asked the cashier if they knew when the uptown 145th Street shop will debut and they said it was going to take another month.  It has been some time since we had the chicken that Charles has been serving up for over 30 years in the neighborhood and the crispy bird is still as good as we remember.  With that said, it will definitely be worth the wait but in the meantime head over to the Upper West Side location just a block away from the 1 Subway Station at 72nd Street to get a quick fix.  More on Charle's in Harlem can be found in our past post: LINK
