BEST BIG SCREEN IMAX MOVIE FOR JANUARY 2023
Harlem Bespoke: After a couple of years of streaming on the small screen while being stuck at home, movie goers are starting to come back for some of the big spectacle offerings out there.
So when we think of size, IMAX comes to mind but what is the biggest floor-to-ceiling theater to be found near uptown? Luckily it is just a short subway ride away at the Lincoln Square theater on Broadway by 68th Street which coincidentally has the largest IMAX screen in the country and the 8-story Wonder of the World is the dimension of prewar tenement building.

TOUR: SENECA VILLAGE HISTORY IN CENTRAL PARK
Thursday, February 17th, 11:00AM to 12:30PM, Seneca Village tour of Central Park, 85th Street and Central Park West. Before Central Park was built, the area from West 82nd to West 89th Street was home to Seneca Village, the largest community of African-American property owners in New York.
Discover Seneca Village, the largest community of free African-American property owners in pre–Civil War New York. On this tour, visitors will read the physical landscape of Seneca Village to understand the particular value it provided to Black New Yorkers seeking refuge from the crowded conditions and racial discrimination prevalent in early 19th Century NYC. Conservancy guides offer insight into this unique community and the events that resulted in the displacement of Seneca Village residents through the process of eminent domain for the construction of a new park. RSVP $20 tickets at the official parks site: LINK

CROWDS AT THE CHARLES PAN-FRIED CHICKEN OPENING
Harlem Bespoke: It was a rainy opening day for the Charles Pan-Fried Chicken at the 72nd Street location just west of Broadway on the south side, but the crowds kept coming in over lunch time. The one major thing to note before heading down to the new takeout spot is that the computer systems were down for credit cards so make sure to bring some cash. Word of mouth must have been pretty fierce for this sort of turnout but when will the Harlem location open?

SEE: THE NEAREST & LARGEST UPTOWN IMAX
Harlem Bespoke: One of the highly anticipated movie arrivals of the year is the big screen adaption of Dune which officially previews today at local theaters and is a cinematic debut that has to be seen on the large screen to fully appreciate the craftsmanship. At last month's world premier during the Venice Film Festival, Dune received a seven minute standing ovation because of the sheer breathtaking visionary scope of the film. It has been called a once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment in filmmaking so going to the theater is a definitely must for this one.

Luckily it is just a short subway ride away at the Lincoln Square theater on Broadway by 68th Street which coincidentally has the largest IMAX screen in the country and the 8-story Wonder of the World is the dimension of prewar tenement building. We have actually been supporting the return to theater movement and can say that proof of vaccination has probably helped business to get back to normal since movie goers feel safer now venturing out to experience much needed escapism. With that said, reserve seating also makes it easy and online platforms such as Fandango.com streamlines the planning of the big day. Our favorite seats for this 600-seat IMAX theater is towards the middle around row G or H but some folks prefer seats further back since the screen is so gigantic.
