REMEMBER: EAST 127TH AND PARK AVENUE CIRCA 1940

Harlem Bespoke:  After doing the story on construction at the old parking lot between 126th and 127th Street on Park Avenue, we had to look up what was actually there when the neighborhood was intact.  Old DOB records show that demolition on the block happened in 1979 so the parcel of land has been empty for over 4 decades now.  As can be seen in the archival photo, the block had four brownstone buildings on it originally and had storefronts at street level for each one. This looks more like a neighborhood and invites foot traffic on to the block because of the commercial aspect so hopefully the new building arriving in the next couple of years will do the same: LINK
