Harlem Bespoke: We were hopeful for the future of the pair of brownstones at 164-168 West 136th Street just west of Adam Clayton Powell when the townhouses sold back in 2015 but a full restoration never quite happened. Plywood fences when up in 2017 but then nothing happened until earlier in the year as the lower photo reveals. Everything was demolished since there was no landmark protection for this historic block and a poster out front now reveals what will be arriving in the not too distant future. As can be seen in the rendering, a new residential building has been planned and that is why it has taken a few years for anything to come about. Some of the air rights from the neighbor to the left also appears to be part of the deal since there is that overhang section on the top floor. An estimate finish date of Winter 2023 has been posted also and so things should be really progress quite quickly in the next few months. More on 164 West 136th Street can be found in our past post: LINK
