SEE: A DROP OF MIDNIGHT AT HARLEM STAGE
Tuesday-Saturday, June 7th-11th, 7:30PM-9:00PM, Jason “Timbuktu” Diakité A Drop of Midnight live at Harlem Stage, 150 Convent Avenue by 135th Street, Tickets $25-$50. In this highly anticipated production, Harlem Stage-commissioned WaterWorks artist Jason “Timbuktu” Diakité performs the U.S. premiere of his autobiographical theater project, A Drop of Midnight. Adapted from Diakité’s memoir of the same name, it follows the chart-topping Swedish hip-hop artist born to interracial American parents in Sweden, growing up in the frail cultural and racial divide. Timbuktu takes us on a journey through his ancestors’ origins as slaves in the antebellum South, his parents’ struggles as an interracial couple, and his connection to hip-hop that helped him build a strong Black identity in Sweden.
