GRANT'S TOMB NOW OPEN WITH LIMITED ACCESS

Harlem Bespoke: The other uptown monument to reopen after two years is Grant's Tomb which is at Riverside Drive by West 122nd Street. General Grant was the greatest war hero of the Civil War and this would then lead to becoming the 18th President of the United States. President Grant was known for fighting to protect the rights of newly freed African Americans and his tomb in West Harlem was more beloved than the Statue of Liberty in the late 19th Century. By the late 20th Century, the iconic Civil War memorial was mostly forgotten and deteriorating until local grassroots activism brought attention to raising much needed government funding for restoration.  Check out the official Grant's Tomb website for more current updates on operating hours during the season: LINK
