STATUE OF LORRAINE HANSBERRY AT THE SCHOMBURG

Harlem Bespoke:  The Schomburg Center on Lenox at the corner of 135th Street just unveiled the life size statue of playwright Lorraine Hansberry at the front plaza entrance.  A Raisin in the Sun is notably the black LGBT icon's best known work and the title of the play is derived from a poem by Langston Hughes.  Those visiting the interactive installation can sit with the beloved writer on one of the many chair available but make sure to read the words of wisdom on each seat before doing so.  We especially love the mystical flame sparked on the authors palm which represents to us creativity, hope, wisdom and activism.  With all that said, the pop-up public art will only be around until Saturday so make sure to stop by and enjoy the view.  Check out the video clip of the work taken today via our CinemaBespoke instagram account: LINK
