Harlem Bespoke: Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Harlem will celebrate the recent restoration of their landmarked building with a neighborhood block party this weekend. Shortly before the pandemic struck, the church began to raise money for masonry façade restoration, foundation stabilization, and the construction of an ADA ramp. With the help of donors and a Sacred Sites Grant from the New York Landmarks Conservancy, Mt. Zion was able to raise enough to save this landmark. The design and construction was carried out by Acheson Doyle Partners Architects.
To celebrate this momentous restoration, please join Mt. Zion for a neighborhood social on Saturday, July 16th, from Noon to 4:00PM, on Convent Avenue at West 145th Street. Performing will be The Willie Mack Jazz Band, followed by Simon Chardiet Jazz. There will be free hot dogs and burgers while supplies last, as well as face-painting. This block party is free and open to the public.
