ARCHITECURAL DETAILS AT 2171 FREDERICK DOUGLASS

Harlem Bespoke: We noticed over the summer that the side of 2171 Frederick Douglass Boulevard had just been revealed an that there was some design detailing in the brickwork which makes the straightforward box just a little bit more interesting.  We mentioned previously that the development started up about 4 years ago and the building is finally finishing up.  The empty lot at the corner of 117th Street and Frederick Douglass was vacant for as long as most people could remember but a groundbreaking back in 2018 provided some hope that the land would be put to use.  Disinvestment to this part of Harlem caused a lot of the original building stock to be demolished in the 70s and 80s but that sad history eventually made way for more land to build on in the future.  The signage on the shed has commercial space for rent so this is probably a mix-used situation.
