Harlem Bespoke: A certain notable Harlem brownstone belonging to actor Neil Patrick Harris had a contract out for somewhere around $7.1 million back in May and Streeteasy has confirmed the final selling price from the August closing which was lower than the asking. Of course this will now be an all-time record for any Harlem townhouse and some might be curious to see what the final number ended up at.
The previous record to beat was also set this year in the Mount Morris Park Historic District which was $6.35 million but now the NPH brownstone holds the title at $6.995 million just about 5 blocks north.
One of the interesting points that the news outlets did not uncover is that this was originally the home of the Settepani family who has had their cafe on Lenox Avenue for over 20 years now. The grey commercial building next door to the left of the townhouse cluster is the Harlem location of Shake Shack and WeWorks is just around the corner on the 126th Street side of the block. Lots is also happening to this section of Fifth Avenue since the former National Black Theatre building directly across the street has been entirely demolished and there should be substantial construction happening for the massive new condo building rising by next year: LINK
