BESPOKE: THE SCULPTURE PLAZA AT HISPANIC SOCIETY

Harlem Bespoke: The Hispanic Society on Broadway and West 155th Street has a new exhibit of the historic painting collection but visitors this weekend should makes sure to first walk though the breathtaking sculpture garden in the outside plaza before going inside. With the weather being more and more warmer, we especially enjoyed an outdoor viewing of the bronze neoclassical works hidden within the center courtyard.  The mostly male and mostly nude figures on display are all warriors of sorts but the whole grasping the sword theme seems to have a double entendre here.  There is also El Cid on a horse watching over the entire entourage which includes a few fawns along the perimeter and an actual bronze cannon thrown in the mix.  Check out our past post for more on the current show at the museum: LINK
