☞ LISTEN: Marjorie Elliot & Parlor Entertainment

Every Sunday for the past 15 years, Marjorie Elliot has been opening up her home to strangers so that all can enjoy an afternoon of free jazz. Ms. Elliot took the personal grief of the loss of her son and turned it into joy for others by gathering her jazz musician friends and celebrating with music every week. The address at 555 Edgecombe Avenue and 160th Street, apartment 3F is quite famous on Sundays since one only has to follow the music to find the space. There are around fifty seats in all, and the performances go from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Closest subways are the C at 155th Street and the 1 train at 157th.
