☞ DWELL: 19 West 120th Street Brownstone

Just listed in the past week is 19 West 120th Street in the Mount Morris Park Historic District. This is probably the most distinct house on the block between Lenox and Mount Morris Park West since it has a crazy brownstone porch with an arched entrance, the distinctive oriel bay window on the outside and those little arched window on top. The reportedly two-family house has all the original details intact in the interior, 4,865 square feet of living space and is at the golden 20 foot wide mark. So how much is it? The asking is $1.85 million (which doesn't sound so bad if no major upgrades are needed for the infrastructure). The closest subway to this stop is the 2,3 express train at 125th and 116th Street.

  1. How did Michael H. Adams miss this gem in his book lost and found? This house has been BLACK owned since 1956. The current owner has had it since 1990 and began restoring it in 1993. I went to an exclusive showing last Sunday and from the moment you step into the duplex you are breathless. The house is full of details and the owner spent 3 years stripping the wood herself. It has never been on the Mt Morris Park house tour but that is our loss. Simply beautiful!
