☞ ARCHITECTURE: 11 East 128th Street
The townhouse at 11 East 128th Street was always a curiosity on the brownstone lined block just east of 5th Avenue. The building was completed in 2008 by its owner architect Justin Georges, and the single family home almost looks like one of those modern churches that have been built in recent decades. Another interesting feature is the curb cut and the built in garage at street level. In our opinion, it's at least interesting to look at, and not as mundane as some of the other modern buildings in town but does everyone like it?

It's definitely unique and modern but doesn't fight the style of the rest of the block. I like it because it's not your typical glass and steel structure that's popping up all over.
ReplyDeleteI live right around the corner and enjoy walking past this townhouse on a daily basis. This is one beautiful street.
ReplyDeleteI like the occasional modern building strinkled in with traditional housing stock - this is what I think makes NYC so interesting. I wouldn't want every house to be like this though.
ReplyDeleteI like it as it acknowledges its neighbors in terms of color and appearance of sturdiness while at the same time being modern and creative. My only two criticism would be the top story looks like an afterthought and the street level needs some planters. I would like to see inside one day.
ReplyDeleteHate it!
ReplyDeleteThe entrance isn't very welcoming buy over all I like it. Usually this type of construction is done because it's cheap but this one doesn't look cheap at all. I like the brick work and the wooden over hang. It's crying out for a vine and some flowers
ReplyDeleteHow can I contact the owner? If anyone knows my email is fgonzalez@elliman.com
