☞ SHOP: Harlem Saturday Farmers' Markets

Saturday, July 17th, rain or shine. It's that time of week again and for those who are here on the weekends, we need to support the multiple farmer's markets that have popped up in Harlem. This is definitely an amenity that improves the neighborhood and can only grow with continuous support from everyone.

For those closer to West 110th Street and Manhattan Avenue, there's the Morningside Farmers' Market which will run from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. The closest train to this location is the B,C at 110th Street. The top two photos are some of the notable vendors at this particular market. Check out the list of other vendors and upcoming events on the Community Markets site: LINK.

Then there's the Mount Morris Park Historic District Farmers' Market which had its debut last Saturday, from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. The location is on the north side of Marcus Garvey Park at 124th Street and Fifth Avenue. The closest subways are the 2,3 at Lenox. The lower photos are an example of the stands represented at this market which includes local raised beef, poutry and pork along with a variety of fresh produce. The nut stand at this one is pretty amazing.

For those located further north, the Jackie Robinson Park Farmers' Market sets up from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM and is located on West 145th Street, between Edgecombe and Bradhurst Avenue. The closest train to this location is the A,B,C,D at 145th Street. Go to the City Farms site for more information: www.JustFood.org. Photos by Ulysses

  1. This is really a beautiful thing the farmers and the organizers are putting together. I wish more people would support it. Harlem needs more ppl to eat organic.

  2. So happy I'm actually in town on a Saturday for once and could try the Mount Morris Park market. Agreed, the nut (and dried fruit) stand is amazing. And I just finished my breakfast of eggs scrambled with Greek olive oil, both from the market, and sausage from the sausage guy. And peaches. With farmers market flowers on my table.

    Great addition to the neighborhood!

  3. I went to the Marcus Garvey market yesterday (Sat.) afternoon. At one stand guys from West Va. had some fine produce and some unbelievable peaches. It's been a long tome since I ate peaches so perfectly tree ripened. I bought ten and wish I bought twenty cause they'll be gone today. Peaches that good never show up around here. Not at that price.
