We checked out 127 West 129th Street (lighter color center building) last September when it was reduced to $750K from the original of $1.5 million asking price. As previously discussed, the building is extremely narrow at 12.5 foot wide and a reader pointed out it was probably a result of dividing the original building lot decades ago. The 2,046 square foot, 3-level, limestone-painted brownstone is now at $689K but the property looks like it might be SRO restricted still with a rooming house status. From the lower photo, one can see that the interior is already gutted. So is the current price low enough to go through all the trouble for a narrow house? This townhouse is located between Lenox and ACP/8th Avenue. The nearest subways are 4 blocks south at the 2,3 express station on 125th.
It seems like a high price for an SRO in that area - projects and subsidized housing everywhere. The real fun starts directly west on FDB.
ReplyDeleteThere is a bigger, also SRO-status building on lower Convent, a much better area and surrounded by converted places, one under construction, and, granted, one other SRO with destructive and troubled people in residence. I think it was listed for less at some point. It remains unsold.
