☞ DWELL: 844 St. Nicholas Sold in February

We noticed back in March that the palatial house at 844 St. Nicholas Avenue was going through a gut renovation and wondered what the selling price ended up being. The 21 foot wide, 5,000 square foot, white house (between 152nd and 153rd Street) had been up for sale for some time, and we recently found several old pictures of the interior: LINK. The landmark, 10 unit building must have needed some fancy paperwork to rectify its SRO status but the new owners seem to know what they are doing since demolition began a month after the closing. What was the final price for the Hamilton Heights home that needed major work? The townhouse, which has now been officially changed to a 2-family dwelling, went for $775K. There's not much in this part of town but the building itself is one of a kind. The nearest subway to this location is the C train at 155th Street. Photo by Ulysses
